Deposit

Definition

A deposit is the share of the price the client pays when placing the order, before the work starts.

Explanation

A deposit funds the start: buying materials, moving the team, the first hours of work. It also commits the client: a client who paid to start wants the work to succeed, and to pay for it. Its percentage and payment date are written in the contract or on the signed quote, with one simple sentence: work starts upon receipt of the deposit.

Example

Fictional example. An agency signs a 3,000,000 FCFA assignment with a 30% deposit. The client pays 900,000 FCFA at signing; work starts the day the money arrives. If the final instalment is disputed, the agency has already covered part of its costs.
